Turn students into food detectives. First, teach them how to read food labels, including fat, calories, sodium, carbs, and fiber. Then, set up different stations throughout the room with a different type of food item on display. Split the class into groups and have them go around the room to inspect, read, and record the nutritional values. Work their findings into a class discussion. Send them home with the Parents’ Guide to Fast Food For Kids Slideguide so they can review and discuss the fast food choices with their parents.
